Product demonstration
To understand how SemiPremium works, think of a presentation remote.
A presentation clicker allows a speaker to move freely on stage and progress through slides without touching the computer running the presentation. The goal is focus—staying on task without breaking flow or attention.
SemiPremium applies the same principle to bedtime media use.
It provides freedom from the smartphone’s touch interface while preserving only the essential controls needed to continue audio or video playback. No reaching. No locating buttons. No thinking, counting, or adjusting. And most importantly: no light exposure. Interaction is fully decoupled from the screen while in bed and preparing to sleep.
The video below shows some of the core functions and features of SemiPremium.
At the heart of the product is SemiPremium’s patent-pending pointer anchoring technology.
This allows users to map physical button presses to precise touch locations anywhere on a smartphone screen. With a single press, SemiPremium can trigger a tap—even when the phone’s display is off and content is playing in the background.
This enables iOS and Android users to skip interruptions that Premium subscriptions don’t cover and ad blockers can’t reliably reach. In that sense, SemiPremium is the other half of a Premium subscription—completing what Premium offers by reducing unwanted interruptions. For users without Premium, it functions as the first half.
For people who fall asleep to audiobooks, podcasts, or spoken content, attention can drift momentarily, causing missed information. SemiPremium allows users to skip back using lock-screen controls without touching the phone, replaying the missed moment without re-engaging with the device.
Many Premium subscribers to services like Spotify or YouTube are familiar with the limitation:
platform-distributed ads may be removed, but creators are free to embed ads directly into their content. While tech-savvy users may attempt to manipulate players to bypass these segments, such solutions are unreliable and require constant maintenance as platforms evolve.
SemiPremium solves this at a deeper level.
By operating at the input-method layer of the operating system as a Human Interface Device (HID), SemiPremium remains reliable regardless of app updates, content format changes, or platform policies.
Beyond bedtime use, SemiPremium also enables comfortable content consumption at a distance. It can be used to skip intros, recaps, or ad segments in streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, and YouTube Music. It provides access to hard-to-reach on-screen controls in apps like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Audible, Pocket Casts, and others—areas where ad-blocking extensions have no reach.
In some ways, SemiPremium offers more control than Premium subscriptions alone.
SemiPremium also features a Desktop and Laptop mode. In this mode, users can lean back and enjoy content on a computer screen while using the same tactile button to control playback from a distance. Two sets of screen oordinates are supported, allowing seamless use across devices.
Ultimately, SemiPremium complements Premium subscriptions by restoring simplicity to interaction. It
replaces light, friction, and cognitive engagement with a single physical button—designed to do exactly what’s needed, and nothing more.
